My Inspiration

I want to touch on the subject of just how important going organic is for babies. Of course my fur baby, Zeus, is included because what she doesn’t finish, he does with total eagerness!!

Organic Should Start in the Womb

When pregnant, we are so cautious about everything we do. We crave the fries but “try” to choose the veggies, fit in some exercise, sleep more, monitor our baby’s heartbeat, and listen to special music because we read on some forum that it makes our baby smarter. But throughout my entire pregnancy, I never saw anyone warning about the dangers of pesticides and how they could effect my still forming baby.

“women who ate organic food during pregnancy were 58% less likely to deliver boys with hypospadias, a common urogenital birth defect, than mothers who never ate any”

That first trimester is the most crucial. Major things happen from the brain forming to their hearts first beats. So it goes without saying that it’s of most importance to go organic as early as possible but it’s NEVER too late. I completely understand that organic is more expensive. In fact, that’s why most people choose non organic (which is on average 47% less expensive) but there are ways around this. If you’d like to know more on how to switch to organic, these might be of help you:

Need another reason to go organic? Pesticides are found in both breastmilk and formula.

“EPA has set a legally enforceable maximum contaminant level (MCL) for glyphosate of 700 ug/l in drinking water, which is 7,000 times higher than the MCL in Europe.”

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in RoundUp, is found in both breastmilk and formula. It’s a herbicide (form of pesticide) that is used to kill off unwanted weeds. While staying clear of farms that use pesticides and eating organic can keep pesticides out of breastmilk, there are options for formula users too!

Earth’s Best Organic Dairy Infant Powder Formula with Iron, Omega-3 DHA and Omega-6 ARA, 35 oz.

“glyphosate, now classified as probably carcinogenic to humans by the World Health Organization, has been found in a number of items, including honey, breast milk and infant formula”

Sometimes, products are labeled organic and we think we’re good to go. Turns out, there’s more to it than that. So according to this chart, how does your formula rank?

Making Your Own Baby Food is FUN…Seriously

Making your own baby food may sound like an exhausting task but in all honesty, I love it. I get creative with it and they sell great tools to make that perfectly smooth texture you’ll find in store purées. It’s also not as time consuming as you’d think. It takes me all of 30 minutes (sometimes less) to wrap up an entire weeks worth of purées. I use the Baby Bullet that I bought from amazon. If you’re interested click below:

I think you’ll agree with me when I say:

Our children are our biggest concern and we want nothing but the best for them. Health starts from the inside. Food is fuel but are we fueling our children and ourselves with wholesome nutrients? Or poison?

  1. Thanks for such an informative post. Whilst I always try to choose organic as I know the sheer amount of pesticides and other toxins used for the growth of food and other crops can be so damaging, this really brings it into perspective how important it is when you’re responsible for another human being.
